Asked in February 1990 what he had experienced in December 1989 while participating in the defense of the airport of the southwestern town of Caransebes, Army Captain Mircea Apostol responded:
No, we only found blood stains and that was it. We didn’t even find shell casings, because these melted away after firing. It sounds incredible. It was a real battle.
